What is Botox®?
Botox® is a brand name for a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This toxin has been used in medical context for many years and has been used to treat neck spasms, sweating, overactive bladder, lazy eye and migraines.
Botox® was then approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2002 for the use on the glabellar/frown region. Since then it has been approved in 95 other countries including the UK, where the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency ( MHRA ) granted approval for it’s use.
These injections have become one of the most popular minimally invasive cosmetic treatments available.
